Use CoChat from ChatGPT or Claude
CoChat’s research tools work as a connector in ChatGPT, Claude and any other app that supports MCP. Once connected, that app can search scholarly papers, fetch full text, verify citations, verify a whole paper, and read or add to your CoChat Library, chats, plans and projects.
Get the connector URL
Section titled “Get the connector URL”Open the user menu (your avatar, bottom of the sidebar) and choose CoChat MCP, or find the CoChat MCP button on the Integrations page. Click Copy URL.
For app.cochat.ai the URL is:
https://app.cochat.ai/mcpConnect from ChatGPT
Section titled “Connect from ChatGPT”- Open ChatGPT’s settings and find the connectors (apps) section.
- Add a custom connector and paste the URL.
- Sign in to CoChat when prompted and click Allow access.
Connect from Claude
Section titled “Connect from Claude”- Open Claude’s settings and find the connectors section.
- Add a custom connector and paste the URL.

What you’re allowing
Section titled “What you’re allowing”The sign-in page shows which permissions the app is asking for:
| Permission | What it lets the app do |
|---|---|
| Research | Search scholarly papers, patents, grants and trial registrations; fetch full text; verify citations; check whether the cited paper really says what a claim attributes to it; verify a whole paper (claims, Self-check, Stats check, reference support and a summary) or read one of those sections at a time. |
| Workspace | Read your chats, list and update your plans, list or add projects, and find or add papers in your Library. |
What the app can actually do is limited to what you approved. Workspace access only works through the connector — it can’t be used to call the rest of CoChat.
Disconnecting
Section titled “Disconnecting”Remove the connector from ChatGPT’s or Claude’s settings. There’s nothing to revoke on the CoChat side.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Available on every plan.
- Searches from a connected app are capped at 25 results each.
- In ChatGPT, results from CoChat’s search can appear as citations in its answers.
- Checking a claim from a connected app is the same check as in CoChat: it reads the cited paper’s full text, never an abstract or a search snippet, and saves the claim to your Library. A word-for-word quote is free; anything else uses one of your daily claim checks. The paper has to be in CoChat already, and when we don’t hold its full text yet, nothing is checked or counted until it arrives.
- Verifying a whole paper from a connected app is the same report CoChat’s Library and public pages show. It uses one of your paper verifications (on Free: 1 per day, up to 5 per month) only when the paper actually needs new work — reading an already-verified paper, or asking again for the same paper, is always free.
- Fetching a paper’s text reads CoChat’s own copy first when you already have it in your Library, so a connected app benefits from the same shared text cache the app itself does.
