Skills

A skill is a written guide the assistant can pull up when a request matches. A tool does something — searches, fetches, runs code. A skill tells the assistant how to approach a job well: how to structure an email sequence, how to run a brainstorm, how to audit a page for SEO.

You don’t invoke a skill directly. The assistant sees the name and one-line description of every skill you have enabled, and loads the full guide when your request fits.

Open Skills in the sidebar. There are four tabs:

Tab What’s in it
Available Built-in skills and skills from the community marketplace. Search by name, description or category.
Added Skills you’ve installed or written.
Packs Curated bundles you can enable in one go.
Write your own Create a custom skill.

Each card has a switch to turn the skill on or off and a Details button to read the full guide. Marketplace skills need to be Added before they can be switched on.

On the Write your own tab, give the skill an id, a short description, a category, and the guide itself in Markdown. Click Create skill. The description matters most — it’s what the assistant reads to decide whether the skill applies.

You can also ask the assistant to write a skill for you; the Skill Creator skill exists for exactly that.

Skills you enable here apply to all your chats. An assistant can carry its own set of skills that only apply while you’re chatting with it — see Manage skills in Setting up an assistant.

  • Skills are free on every plan and don’t use credits on their own; they only affect how the assistant works.
  • Community skills come from an open marketplace. Read the Details before enabling one, and use Report if something looks off.
